More than 50 years in artistic life

"I grew up and became an artist thinking and believing that today’s world of information would forever be a science-fiction story. In 1968 I began to paint and, since then, I have only stopped for short periods in order to dedicate myself to cinema, video or equally important special activities.

Art for me has been a dream. In this dream I’m a castaway lost in space and time, and my works are messages thrown out in bottles in the vain hope that they reach a miraculous destination.

I studied fine arts at the Cali State School of Fine Arts, the National University, Bogotá. I got tired of them and they of me. Therefore, I dedicated myself to photography and experimenting with cinema, which was very difficult at that time. So in 1977, I decided to paint.

I had exhibitions here and there until 1979, when I held my own exhibition at Banco de la República - Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango. Subsequently I exhibited in two galleries in Bogotá, Ibarra and San Diego, which no longer exist. I did some work with a gallery in Paris called: "L'oeil de Beuf" which invited me to exhibit. Since then, as I mentioned in the introduction of this page, I have faced private collections who have around 600 of my paintings, most of which are not registered thanks to my accident-prone life.

Now the idea is to take advantage of technology and convert this website into a virtual gallery which functions as a source of information for those who want to know more about my work and help me rescue images of those works for which I don’t have photographic record. This way I can share enough pieces which will allow you to understand my intention in dedicating my life to this cause.
